One of my dearest friends in this world is the widow of General Mohammad Daud Daud. I have come through her eyes to know what an honorable and courageous man he was. I have come to know as well the leadership which he not only exhibited every day on the job, but lived behind closed doors at home. True character really is what you do when no one is watching. Afghanistan lost one of her finest sons on May 28, 2011. We are leaving Afghanistan soon, this country must have those sons and daughters supported who are willing to rise up in the same honor and devoted service to Afghanistan that my dear friend's husband lived and died in.
This link will take the reader to an excellent documentary on the many assassinations which have been carried out by the enemies of liberty and change in Afghanistan, in order to crush progress for which such a great price has been paid. I do not know fully how on a large scale the preservation of all that has been gained, and the accomplishment of all the work that is left to be done, can be completed, but I know as the following documentary film points out, the leadership of Afghanistan is critical, and its' greatest hope lies in the young men and women of Afghanistan.

As this documentary came on, I was writing a letter of recommendation for a young man who worked under General Daud Daud, as he seeks entrance into the Fulbright Scholarship Program. May God influence his selection, that he may study further the administration of governance in Afghanistan, and as his mentor did, lead his country into all that is the best for nations everywhere, while preserving all the history, tradition, and culture that is best about Afghanistan.
The enemies of peace will not go away when we leave, we must empower the good people of Afghanistan to take the reins of leadership, so that the citizens of Afghanistan can with courage and commitment seize the destiny of their nation. Afghanistan has a whole new generation of honorable, courageous, and committed young men and women, and of all the assets we leave behind, of all we endeavor to protect and preserve, of all we wish to grow and support, the young people willing to lead in honor and integrity, are the most significant contributors to success. Washington, do you hear my voice?
